The Houston Convention Center Hotel Corporation is a non-profit corporation created February 2, 2000, by the Houston City Council, whose primary focus is to envision, fund, develop, construct, operate and maintain a flagship convention headquarters hotel adjacent to the expanded George R. Brown Convention Center. As a result, the Hilton Americas-Houston was opened in December, 2003 and supports the activities within the George R. Brown Convention Center to increase its utilization and strives to enhance and promote city-wide convention and tourism activities and thereby the generation and collection of pledged hotel occupancy taxes realized by the City of Houston. |
